What to do about my dying battery on Motorola phone?

I have a very basic Motorola buzz that I got for free with a TMobile prepaid plot. I’m noticing the charge doesn’t hold as long as it used to. Once the battery starts to go, is it all downhill from here or is there anything I can do to prolong its life?
